Foreign language training is an essential part of NIDIR. The Institute organizes foreign language courses for our diplomats and related officials including neighboring languages, ASEAN countries and official languages used at the United Nations. The program is an essential undertaking of its responsibility to help strengthen and upgrade the performance capabilities of the career foreign service corps. The program provides intensive instruction in a number of major languages to personnel of the department and other government agencies whose work requires foreign language proficiency, especially those personnel who are assigned to Foreign Service Posts or Home Office area/country desks or in constant contact with foreign nationals.
